READERS' COMMENTSJewish Renaissance does the near-impossible: it rescues English Jews from the curse of the parochial, re-uniting us with the wider, grander, older and newer, world of Jewish thought and event. Essential reading if you're Jewish or if you're not. I love Jewish Renaissance. Thank you so much. It is like a beacon of light in the Jewish discourse. Congratulations on your wonderful Manchester edition. What a tour de force! It’s fascinating and rich and diverse and I am sure it will be of interest to many. A fascinating magazine, always beautifully produced and a pleasure to read. It has opened my eyes to the condition of Jews in corners of the world that I never knew they inhabited! and to a wealth of cultural events in London and in the regions. I keep meeting people who enthuse about JR for both its design and content. And I'm full of admiration every quarter. Read your latest issue cover to cover. Pretty damn good show. I've much enjoyed it. I was pleased to be up there with the rest of 'em. Congratulations. I think that more than ever before, the subject of Jewish Renaissance is of vital importance. In the last few generations the Jewish people has gone through so many events, developments and changes that many of us don’t really know where we stand or even, who we are any more. This is certainly so in Israel, and I would imagine elsewhere in the Diaspora. It should be a time for regeneration in every aspect of Jewish life. When it comes through the letterbox I think, ‘There’s my best friend’. Jewish Renaissance is far and away the best magazine on Jewish culture I have seen, really well laid out with a wide range of articles. I really do enjoy Jewish Renaissance and also the events calendar received by e-mail where I see all the amazing events I am missing back in the UK, being stuck out in the very Far East. But at least I know what to plan for when making trips back to London. I read your magazine right the way through. Then I read it again. It is that good. It's great to see pleasure spreading over someone's face when they are first introduced to your mag... I still get it every time... I really love your publication - it is of such high quality and always contains articles in which I am greatly interested. It is one of the best publications I know. I love the style. I love the content. I think you really capture the spirit of the diverse communities you feature. I read it from cover to cover. Congratulations on your magazine. It's a breath of fresh air! Your magazine is amazing. I look forward to it, I wait for it. It’s truly inspirational. I wished you published it every week. It’s the only publication I get regularly that I actually look forward to opening. JR is a fantastic vicarious experience, enabling me to visit other cities, explore with like-minded people, read about society and arts in another country (UK), all expressed so beautifully by extremely talented writers, who almost physically take me with them. I LOVE your magazine and it is of great comfort to me whilst living in Tauranga, New Zealand and being one of only a very few Jews in this city. Thank you for the latest issue of the magazine. It's a real joy to read: so much news and information that doesn't seem to be available elsewhere; in-depth commentaries and analysis; and, above all, it makes me feel part of 'where it's all happening'. Thank you! You are doing excellent work in keeping Jewish culture visible and viable in the UK in these troubled times. Thanks for the emails and you I used to be a teacher and then I made a practice of never giving a mark of more than nine out of 10. But I give 10 out of 10 to Jewish Renaissance. It is always such a pleasure to receive your "Update". Thank you so much for giving us this "thrill" while waiting for the next issue of JR. My first subscription year is coming to an end, but of course I shall continue to be a faithful reader of your wonderful magazine. Congratulations on an outstanding issue! The depth and breadth of content are stunning. The whole issue really well edited and JR is destined to become one of the top international Jewish mags of quality. I want to thank you enormously for your wonderful magazine. I am only sorry I didn’t know about it before. At last I read clever, clear, intellectual thoughts and problems many ask themselves. Yes, what is being Jewish - the language, religion, the land, the people that share your life and views... The interview you did with Jonathan Freedland is captivating - I read it several times. Not to speak of the Qumran scrolls, Chagall, etc. I am full of it, it made me happy. Just imagine: when your whole life you were denied your culture and history, the discovery of it is making life meaningful. It’s such a treat to receive each issue of Jewish Renaissance. Bravi! I loved all the South Africa stuff, which was interesting, varied, and well-selected. The Antony Sher interview wonderful (saw Primo when I was in London). And the Michael Sinclair article on democratic giving very intriguing. Good art coverage, and altogether good stuff! We don't really have anything this good in the States. It’s wonderful. It’s the best thing that has happened (in the Jewish world) for a long time. Congratulations on putting together such a lively magazine. This is just what the Jewish community needs. WOW!!!!!! I just got your magazine. It is smashing! The “special” on Iraqi Jews was so interesting - the different articles centering on this one topic - the history, music, etc., and even the food! It is a stunning publication, and certainly a keeper. I had my doubts that it might be too totally London centered for those of us here in the US heartland, but that is not the case at all! I was fortunate in acquiring a complimentary copy of the Summer 2003 issue that was being generously handed out at the recent Giora Feidman recital at Union Chapel, and I was utterly delighted with it. Jewish Renaissance is extremely well written and presented, beautifully produced and printed, on excellent quality paper, and its coverage of Jewish culture is very comprehensive indeed and simply wonderful. Informative, stimulating, and often thought-provoking, Jewish Renaissance is something that ought to have been around in the UK for much, much longer. Its mission statement is a fine and noble one... Jewish Renaissance deserves support and really should not be allowed to fail. I think it's a 'fab' magazine .... I particularly like its inclusive and non-partisan approach! It is good to find a magazine which deals with such a wide range of subjects and presents the arts with such a fresh approach. Simply put, it has panache and style. We compliment you on the magazine - a really good read, wide-ranging and informative and visually too most inviting. I think your magazine is excellent. I am not Jewish but I am studying Theology and Religious Studies at college and I find it most useful. Keep up the good work. I found it very uplifting. Surely the word ‘renaissance’ is very apt to describe the intent of your articles. It exemplifies the very best within Judaism. |
