New Jewish children’s literature prize launches

Budding authors and illustrators have the chance to win £1,000 in the new Jewish Children’s Book Awards

This week Green Bean Books and Jewish Book Week announced a brand new award in the world of literature for youngsters. The Jewish Children’s Book Awards aims to celebrate work by budding authors and illustrators working on inspiring and relevant stories for children based on Jewish history, values and traditions.

The judging panel will select one author and one illustrator to win the prize and each will receive a £1,000 prize as well as having their work considered for publication by Green Bean Books. The panel is comprised of Chris Barash, author and chair of the book selection committee at PJ Library, Green Bean Books publisher Michael Leventhal, Yael Molchadsky, director of the Children’s and YA Department at Kinneret-Zmora-Dvir, plus translator and author Lawrence Schimel.

The awards are currently open to ages 18 or over (at time of submission) living in the UK, Europe and Israel. Submissions close on Wednesday 1 September.
