Spring 2026
From Berlin to Brooklyn // DANIEL & RACHEL LIBESKIND ON BUILDING & BELONGING
At the beginning of this year, as the eyes of the world fell on Venezuela due to conflicts with the US, we wondered: what is life like for the country's Jews? In our spring issue, we visit this tiny, close-knit community to discover its Sephardi heritage, hear from its writers and artists, and explore how Jews are faring in the current climate. In other features, an Israeli and Palestinian tell us how they’re taking their message of peace around the world; Ukrainian fashion designers draw on their Jewish heritage; and meet two female rabbis who are rejuvenating their communities in Spain. The Jewish Museum in Berlin marks its 25th birthday, so we also speak to the museum's architect Daniel Libeskind and his artist daughter Rachel. Hungarian director László Nemes’ (Son of Saul) discusses his new film, The Orphan, and we hear from Astrid Goldsmith, author of a new graphic novel that traces her family roots back to 1930s Berlin and 1960s Zimbabwe.
