JR Internship 2026 - 2027
Supported by the Bergman Lehane Trust
This will be a training internship, across all elements of the magazine, including editorial, programming, social media and marketing. The Jewish Renaissance team will commit to supporting, mentoring and developing your writing and other professional skills in all the areas listed below, as well as providing references for you at the conclusion of your internship to support job applications on the next step of the employment ladder.
You will report to Danielle Goldstein (Deputy and Online Editor) in the first instance, as your immediate line manager, and Dr Aviva Dautch (Executive Director) as your senior management.
About Jewish Renaissance
Jewish Renaissance is a champion of Jewish arts and culture, a must for everyone who wants to know what’s coming next in art, books, theatre, film, music and heritage wherever Jews live and create in the world. JR sets the agenda for emerging trends and uncovers new artistic talent. Our magazine, tours and events have built a reputation over 25 years for celebrating diaspora culture and shining a light on Jewish communities in lesser-known places.
Schedule & Compensation
Your commitment will be 20 hours per week for one year and your working pattern (which may occasionally include evenings and weekends) will be mutually agreed with the Deputy Editor at the start of each month. Be prepared to allow for some flexibility depending on the point in the editorial cycle and what JR events are coming up.
As an employee, you will be paid the London living wage (as of summer 2026 this is set at £14.80/h) plus on-costs of tax and national insurance.
Your salary will be paid in arrears at the end of each month. We are open to doing this either as PAYE (as part of which you will also receive statutory sick pay, and 20 days holiday plus Jewish festivals) or as a self-employed freelance contractor, as per your preference.
