To celebrate the launch of Carole Berman’s new visual memoir, The Holy Fire of Art: Metamorphosis of a Dream, we’re taking a retrospective look at her life and work. The London painter and sculptor is one of the few living artists to have her work collected in both the Israel and British Museums. In this conversation with JR’s executive director Aviva Dautch, Berman will reflect on her artistic process and work shaped by dreams, poetry and Jewish mystical texts. She’ll discuss the influences and experiences that illuminate her art, drawn from her parallel lives in Hampstead Heath and Jerusalem, overlooking olive trees and Old City walls.
Venue: Calder Contemporary Gallery, London, EC1V 1AH
