Following a five-star, sold-out run at Sydney Opera House, Kadimah Yiddish Theatre’s acclaimed production of Yentl transfers to London for one month only. Join us for a theatrical outing, when we’ll not only watch the play, but also host an exclusive pre-show panel and a discussion with members of the cast after the performance.
Our panel includes Meirav Chen-Zamir, the granddaughter of Isaac Bashevis Singer, who wrote the original short story Yentl the Yeshiva Boy; Dr Sonia Gollance, associate professor at UCL’s department of Hebrew & Jewish Studies, who recently published her research about the first production of the play in 1970s America; actor Dame Maureen Lipman, whose husband Jack Rosenthal co-wrote the 1983 film with Barbra Streisand; and actor Allan Corduner, who co-starred in the film as Yentl’s friend Shimmele. Chaired by our executive director Dr Aviva Dautch. We’ll then enjoy the Sunday matinee of the show, followed by a conversation with members of the cast and the director and co-writer, Gary Abrahams.
Venue: Marylebone Theatre, London, NW1 6XT
