Queerness during the Holocaust is an often-overlooked aspect of the atrocities, but Dr Anna Hájková’s book brings to the fore the stories of victims and survivors who were doubly marginalised. Drawing on rich archival research, People without History are Dust: Queer Desire in the Holocaust reveals the experiences of people from across Germany, the Netherlands, Czechoslovakia and Poland who were persecuted both as Jews and as queer individuals.
Hájková will be in conversation with JR’s executive director Dr Aviva Dautch to reflect on silence, survival and memory, and why telling these stories is so important today.
Hosted in partnership with JW3.
