In his new memoir, Shouting at Night: From East End Rebel to Hollywood’s Master Villain, Steven Berkoff remembers an extraordinary career as an actor, playwright and director, influencing theatremakers around the world with his radical approach to theatre. See him in conversation with Josh Azouz, an award-winning contemporary Jewish playwright, to discuss Berkoff’s life, career and the challenges of creating theatre today.
Steven Berkoff’s original plays include East, West and Requiem for Ground Zero. Among the many adaptations he has directed and toured, are Kafka's Metamorphosis and The Trial, Agamemnon after Aeschylus and Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. He has also starred in many films, including A Clockwork Orange, Octopussy and Beverly Hills Cop, and he played Hitler in the series War and Remembrance.
Josh Azouz works across the stage, page, radio and screen, including his books-turned-plays Gigi & Dar and Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied Tunisia.
